Upper Eyelid Surgery

Drooping or sagging lids are caused by loose excess skin, a weak muscle (ptosis), drooping eyebrow or a combination of these. These problems usually occur as a result of the natural aging process, loss of skin elasticity, or excessive rubbing of eyes due to allergies. However, in some cases, droopy lids can be present since birth (congenital ptosis). Upper eyelid surgery helps restore the shape of your upper eyelids.

Am I a Candidate for Upper Eyelid Surgery?

The best way to find out if upper eyelid surgery is right for you is to schedule a FREE private consultation with Dr. Hormozi. Some of the most common complaints associated with drooping or sagging upper lids are as follows:

  • looking tired or worn down

  • one or both lids hanging down over the line of vision (covering of the pupil)

  • a decrease in side vision (peripheral vision)

  • having trouble seeing and driving at night

  • having to raise the chin up in order to see

  • having to manually raise the upper lids to see

  • eyes feeling as if they’re closing when reading or watching television

  • difficulty in applying eye shadow

  • mascara not staying on properly

What Is the Procedure for Upper Eyelid Surgery?

Dr. Hormozi’s technique for the upper eyelid surgery involves measuring and removing the precise amount of excess skin and fat and/or tightening the muscle, if needed. If an associated droopiness of the brow is also present, this can be corrected by repositioning the brow through the blepharoplasty incision. Dr. Hormozi closes the skin incision using a one-stitch sewing technique to ensure a clean, smooth scar line, which is hardly visible and fades away quickly!

What Is the Recovery After Upper Eyelid Surgery?

A special ointment and dressing may be applied to your eyes. You may experience some swelling, bruising, irritation, dryness, and discomfort as you heal.
