Darab Hormozi, MD, FACS performs eyelid surgery for the residents of Glen Burnie, MD.

What is eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) removes excess skin and fat around upper and lower eyelids to give a younger and refreshed appearance. Asian eyelid crease formation and Hispanic eyelid surgery are also available.

How is eyelid surgery performed?

Upper eyelid surgery is performed by measuring and removing excess skin and fat and tightening the underlying muscle if required. A drooping eyebrow can also be corrected during the procedure. The incision is closed using a single stitch method to ensure minimal scarring.

In lower eyelid surgery, fat is removed from inside the lid. This allows quicker recovery and no visible scarring. If needed, additional skin is removed at the corners of the eyes.

For Hispanic and Asian eyelid surgeries, after careful measurement, excess fat and skin is removed to reduce the appearance of hooded eyes or to create a creased eye.
