Darab Hormozi, MD, FACS performs eyelid surgery for the people of Cockeysville, MD.

What Is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is the surgical correction of eyelid deformities, as well as the reshaping of eyelids for aesthetic reasons. The procedure can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids to reduce sagging and puffiness.

How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?

Prior to the procedure, the surgeon will decide what type of anesthetic or sedative to administer. Once the patient is sedated, the surgeon will mark and make an incision in an area that will conceal the appearance of post-surgical scars. Depending on the procedure, the surgeon will then remove fat or excessive skin and may tighten the muscles in the eyelid.

Once the procedure is completed, the incision will be stitched and dressed with gauze and a lubricating ointment. The patient will be able to resume normal activities within seven days, with full recovery after approximately two weeks.
