What Is Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can be done in a few different ways. There is upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, Asian eyelid crease formation, and Hispanic eyelid surgery. In general, eyelid surgery involves the removal of fat or excess skin from your eyelid area. In turn, you will have a younger and more refreshed looked that can eliminate puffiness, a heavy eyelid appearance, and of course, wrinkles. Which type of eyelid surgery you get depends on your particular needs.

How Is Eyelid Surgery Performed?

Eyelid surgery is performed when the doctor makes a tiny incision in the lid area to remove excess fat or tighten the muscle in or around the eyelid. There may also be repositioning of the skin if the patient has droopiness in their lids. The doctor then closes the incision by utilizing a one stitch method that leaves no visible scars.
